Game Preview: Vikings at Bears

Today the 6-4 Minnesota Vikings will play the 7-3 Chicago Bears at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois. If the Vikings lose then they will be two games out of first place in the NFC North, however, if the Vikings win they will either be tied for first, or one game behind the Packers. That is dependent on the results of the Packers vs. Giants game on Sunday night. To summarize the importance of this game, a win would put the possibility of winning the division in reach, but a loss would put the Vikings in a battle for a wildcard spot.

The Vikings will be without their star receiver and returner, Percy Harvin. Harvin has been dealing with a sprained left ankle, and was listed as doubtful for the game. Harvin leads the Vikings with 62 receptions and 677 yards on the season, his production will be missed.

The Vikings will have to make due without him, and hope that Christian Ponder and Adrian Peterson can get the job done against the tough Bears defense. Last week against the Bears, the 49ers, led by Colin Kaepernick, had no problem moving the ball and scoring against the Bears. The Vikings have hopefully dissected what the 49ers did, and will be able to apply some of their plays into today’s game plan.

Jay Cutler is likely to return for the Bears after missing last week with a concussion. The Vikings will need to get in his face and rattle him early to throw off his timing.

The game is at 1:00pm EST at Soldier Field, it will be broadcast on FOX.
