Since Christian Ponder has been made starter for the Minnesota Vikings he has looked like he could really become a good quarterback in this league. He has displayed poise and talent and now has engineered a fourth quarter comeback to add to his new resume. Ponder also received some help from his All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson who compiled over 150 total yards and 2 touchdowns.
The game moved back and forth all day with Cam Newton looking terrific for the Panthers and allowing them to move up and down the field. Tied at 21 in the fourth quarter, Ponder was able to put a drive together and completed some crucial passes on third down to keep the drive alive. Ponder set up Ryan Longwell for a 31 yard kick and the lead, which Longwell nailed.
However not to be upstaged Newton dragged the Panthers right down the field and actually ran into the end zone for the win, but the play was called back for holding. Olindo Mare had a chance to tie, but he missed his short field goal attempt giving Minnesota their second win of the season.
The Vikings defense was really key in this game as well forcing two fumbles out of Newton which were turned into touchdown drives for Minnesota. Jared Allen has been playing out of his mind this year and his on pace for over 20 sacks.
Minnesota has a bye next week and will return in two weeks at Green Bay looking to avenge a loss a couple of weeks ago at home against them.
