Leslie Frazier finally made the move that everyone had been waiting for. After Donovan McNabb floundered through another three quarters of football, he was finally pulled in favor of first round pick, Christian Ponder.
Donovan McNabb has struggled to be anything like his former self over the past two years, and after last week’s performance, he may officially done. By the time Ponder had come into the game the Bears were leading 39 to 10, and McNabb had gone 19 of 24 for 177 yards and took several bad sacks, one which resulted in a safety early in the game.
The Chicago Bears did a great job of keying on Adrian Peterson, who is really the only offensive threat that the Vikings have and limited Peterson to just 39 yards rushing on 12 carries. Despite the lackluster effort by the Vikings’ offense the defense could not get to Cutler who had been hit a ton of times coming into the game, but was allowed to play without any chance of getting touched by a Minnesota defender.
After this loss, the (1-5) Vikings now go home to take on the (6-0) Green Bay Packers who have looked liked world beaters thus far this season. Viking fans can root for their first round pick Ponder take some strides the rest of the season in hopes of the future.
